Read information about the authorI am an author, educator and national presenter. As Principal of a regional safe school program designed to provide alternative education for at-risk middle and high school students, 83% of students transitioned back to their home schools with grade-level or above credits and a renewed desire to continue their education.
My book is based on my personal struggles within the education system and my son who was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder as a teen. As an educator, parent, and victim who survived a horrific act of violence at the hands of my son, I was compelled to write a book that offered alternative strategies to successfully identify and address the effects of mental illness and other behaviors that all too often go undetected and undiagnosed, placing youth at risk.
I currently reside in Joliet, Illinois and am the mother of two sons, Robert and Oliver, and two grandsons, Elijah and Landon. I hold a Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration, a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, minor in Psychology. I am co-founder of Youth Transformation Services (YTS), a youth empowerment, training, and development group targeting at-risk youth and violence prevention.
